GENERAL HISTORY In 1947, the 10th Fraternity at BGSU came on campus known as Beta Sigma. Founded on the principles of Brotherhood, Friendship, Scholarship, Tolerance, and Loyalty, they came together to lay a foundation of friendships to last past the days of college. In 1949 Beta Sigma applied to Phi Kappa Psi and in 1950 became recognized as a Chapter. ΦΚΨ at BGSU remained strong through the 1980s and into the 1990s. In 1997 due to a growing number of issues in the Chapter, the members made the decision to close. This decision was a difficult one, and almost immediately ΦΚΨ entered a waiting list to eventually be brought back to Bowling Green State University. In August 2006, BGSU welcomed ΦΚΨ back to the campus, and in January 2007, ΦΚΨ became a recognized Colony. Christopher Moeller and Patrick Grayshaw, the two members of the colony going into the 2007-2008 academic school year recruited members and developed a strong organization that is currently headed up by President Daniel Caldwell. Looking toward the future, the Phi Kappa Psi colony intends to be chartered in the Fall of 2008. More history will soon be written. |
