Service

National Permanent Project
The National Permanent Service Project for Omega Phi Alpha is mental health. It was designated in 1971 at the national convention in Bowling Green, Ohio. Mental health was the choice because of the broad scope in encompassing many charitable causes. A mentally healthy individual, according to the sorority, is one who is leading a truly rewarding life. Each Chapter is required to complete at least one project each year for mental health.

National President's Project
Each year the National President declairs the National Presidents Project. It is then each chapter's duties to fulfill the requirements of having completed at least one project related to this cause per year. Past projects have been nursing, ecology, heart disease, children, the elderly, the Girl Scouts of America, head injury prevention, just to name a few.

Alpha Chapter
The sisters at BGSU participate in many service projects throughout the year, in addition to national projects, such as volunteering at Martha's Kitchen, putting on a Christmas party for local children, or participating in game night at Josina Lott. Many of our sisters are also active in Dance Marathon, in various positions (DGR, steering, dancers, and/or moralers).
