Alpha Kappa's Philanthropies

Coming soon will be a complete listing of our chapter's personal philanthropies held each year.

Squirrel Soccer
Usually held in early fall or late spring on the Intramural Fields. Chapter forms teams of six - plus two substitutes - to play a double elimination brackett tournament. Bracketts are separated into all female, all male, and co-ed. The rules used to regulate the game - which is monitored by AGD sisters serving as referees - are that of indoor soccer. At the end of the tournament, the champions of each brackett will face off in a single elimination series of games.

Awards are given out to the respective winners of each brackett as well as an Overall spirit award.

The winners of 2007 were Alpha Chi Omega for the All Female Brackett. Delta Gamma placed second and Sigma Kappa won the Spirit Award. Due to conflicting schedules with IFC, no fraternities were able to participate this year.

Texas Hold'Em Tournaments
1 Tournament is held per semester, usually within the Multipurpose Room of the BTSU. The tournament starts at 9:15p with a $5 buy-in (single buy-in only) and lasts until 11:00p. Last chance to buy- in as 10:00p. To buy-in, cash or checks made out to Alpha Gamma Delta are accepted. Bursaring is regulated to this last Spring 2007 tournament. Chip values are set at White = $1, Red = $2, and Blue = $5. Players are settled at 5 - 10 top tables. Movement from table to table is allowed, but tables will be asked to consolidated as players are eliminated. AGD Sisters will serve as dealers for the night.

The winner of the evening is the player who has the most chips. Players may cash out at any point if they need to leave the tournament before 11:00p. Their chip value will be recorded with the officials and if they have sufficient funds to win a prize, they will be contacted at a later date.

Prizes are a assortment of gift certificates and donated items from local BGSU buisnesses, such as SBX, Myles' Pizza and Dairy Queen, etc. The overall winner earns half of the night's earnings.

Alpha Gam Lip Jam
Held in the Spring, this lip sync competition involves organizations forming groups and performing a short lip sync to a song of their choice. Groups are judged on their spirit, costuming, orginallity/creativity, and preparedness. AGD Sisters serve as coaches to the organizations to help aid them in ideas for their performance as well as answering any questions teams might have.

Awards are given to the top three teams as well as a Spirit Award.

Last year's Winners were Alpha Omicron Pi with their Spice Girl rendition, Delta Zeta in 2nd place with a New Kids from the Block, and Delta Gamma in 3rd place with their "hair brush" microphone jam. Delta Zeta won the Spirit Award.

Ride Pride with Cedar Point
Whenever it fits the Chapter's schedule, we participate in Cedar Point's Ride Pride Program. For one weekend, a group of sisters will drive to the Sandusky park and work the rides. We are trained Friday night and under supervision operate some of the rides - such as Troika or the Kiddie Rides - or serve as gate monitors on the larger rollar coasters. We stay overnight at either a local sister's house or in the provided dormatories.

During Hallo-Weekend, we get to work as ghouls and haunted house ghosts as well as in the usual capacities.

For one weekend of work with 15 - 20 workers, we manage to raise around $3000 for our National Philanthropy.

Please check out our calendar to find out exact time and locations for each event.
