Philanthropy

"To welcome the opportunity of contributing to the world's work in the community where I am placed because of the joy of service."

Alpha Gamma Delta's philanthropy is the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation was created in 1962 ensuring that the Fraternity's mission would live on into Alpha Gamma Delta's second century, allowing women of all ages to make positive differences on their campus and in their communities - leaving a legacy for generations of women to follow.

The mission of the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, Inc. is twofold:

To generate financial resources to fund the educational, philanthropic and leadership purposes of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity.

To support those purposes, for both members and non-members, through financial grants for scholarships; leadership training; diabetes research, education and equipment; emergency financial assistance; wellness issues; and programs that enhance high personal standards of ethics and values.

The Alpha Kappa chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta raises money for the Foundation in several ways. Each spring we host the Alpha Gam Lip Jam. Lip Jam is a lip synch contest that members of the campus and Greek community participate in for a small entry fee. This fall we began our first ever Texas Hold Em card nights to raise money for the Foundation. All of the proceeds from Lip Jam and Texas Hold Em will benefit the Foundation. Also this fall, we participated in Cedar Point's Ride Pride, a program that allows organizations to work for a weekend at Cedar Point and earn money for their group.

Our goal for the 2006-2007 school year is to raise over $2,000 for the Foundation, which will recognize us as a Jewel Chapter by Internationals. We are proud to say that we are well on our way!
