What does it all mean? How can I get involved? And, while the information may be useful in and of itself, the real power of the data comes from using it to make intentional decisions about our future. Which reaction is right? All of them are. This process has been new for the campus, from the individuals putting it together to each and every person receiving these emails. What can be said is that everything that can be done is being done to provide an engaging collaborative experience for us–all of us–to talk about what is important for BGSU. The Charting Our Future sessions that will be held between September 8 and 12 provide a starting point for the discussions about big ideas that shape BGSU’s future. What should our vision be? What is our mission? What core values are important to guide our actions? What overarching goals will direct our efforts? Each session will contribute key ideas to these questions and the campus will have visibility to those results through the strategic planning blog. Many have asked what happens after Charting Our Future week. Once all sessions are completed, the Cabinet will look carefully at your input, consult with appropriate groups and, shortly after the conclusion of all of the discussions, they will issue a statement about the results. Many of you may have seen the video highlighting key elements of the collaborative dialogue process. During that meeting, one participant commented that everyone has a voice, but we don’t always have a forum in which to be heard. Great effort has been made to create an experience where everyone’s voice is welcome and valued–please come and join the dialogue. |
