State of the State Presenter

Shane Morgan, Founder & Chair of TransOhio, has been an Ohio resident for 15 years. He has presented at The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change Conference; Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio; Southern Comfort Conference; Annual State of the State Diversity Conference, The Ohio Attorney General’s Two Days In May Conference on Victim Assistance; Ohio Suicide Prevention Conference; TransOhio’s Trans & Ally Symposium and other national and local conferences.
In 2012, Shane was a Rockwood Leadership Fellow with its Fellowship for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Advocacy. This intensive leadership program is designed to teach powerful visioning, listening, speaking, presentation, coaching, team-building and feedback skills to leaders engaged with advocacy and organizing for lesbian, gay, bisexual and queer equality and liberation. The program includes two residential retreats, professional and peer coaching sessions, and additional leadership support.
In October 2010, Shane completed a Political Fellowship with the Center for Progressive Leadership. The Ohio Political Leaders Fellowship is a 9-month, part-time program that focuses on providing the long-term resources and skills necessary for emerging leaders to become powerful political advocates for their communities. Through training, coaching, project-based work and mentoring, the program gives up-and-coming leaders the skills and networks they need to advance progressive political change in their communities.
Shane served as a Board Trustee at Stonewall Columbus from 2005-2012. Served as a Pride Council Steering Committee member at the United Way of Central Ohio from 2010-2011, and is a member of the Equality Ohio Public Policy Committee and a Local Action Team leader.
Shane presents on several topics: Transgender Homelessness & Shelters; Ally & Coalition Building; Trans & Queer Community organizing; Trans Inclusive Health Care; Domestic Violence & Safety; Coming Out at Work and Creating gender-safe & neutral spaces.
