Rex Lowe, Ph.D., Department of Biological Sciences

Students studying and learning with me will spend the summer at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) participating in one of two on-going research projects. At the Experimental Stream Facility at UMBS we will be investigating the role of biotic and abiotic variables regulating the structure and function of stream communities. In a second project we will be assessing the impact of recent aquatic species invasions on Douglas Lake, Michigan and it’s biota. In addition to assisting myself and graduate students involved in these projects, the participant will be given the opportunity to develop their own independent research project. Studying and living at the biological station will afford the student opportunities to work in the environment with a large number of other students and research investigators.
