The Biology of Affect and Motivation (BAM) laboratory is involved in elucidating the physiological mechanisms that underlie emotional states and motivated action. We study how these processes develop using sensitive behavioral assays for maternal attachment and early social interactions. The laboratory is involved in both neural and endocrine studies looking at how early hormone development guides motivation and how endocrine disruption perturbs specific bahaviors. We are also interested in the neural signals that integrate information related to rewards and outcome processing. We use behavioral techniques and neural assays to relate action to physiology. Feeding, hunger, satiety and social systems are the main focus of the laboratory. hcc@bgsu.edu
