The Division of Research and Economic Development supports the scientific, scholarly, and creative research activities of the faculty, staff, and students of Bowling Green State University. World class research is being performed by BGSU faculty at the Center for Photochemical Sciences, theCenter for Family and Demographic Research, and the Social Philosophy and Policy Center, among other units on campus.

The Division also oversees the economic development activities of the university. To better realize robust local and regional growth, the Division builds on BGSU’s history as an engaged university in creating partnerships with private sector businesses to:
- Improve existing products and services
- Define best practices
- Integrate BGSU faculty and staff into the region's business community
