Susan Brown Presents the College of Arts & Sciences Distinguished Faculty Lecture
Dr. Susan Brown, co-director of the National Center for Family and Marriage Research and CFDR affiliate, discussed recent trends and patterns in intimate relationships at the College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Faculty Lecture on October 18, 2011.  Her talk, "Partnering in Later Life: New Frontiers in Family Research,"  included a look at partnership dynamics - whether dating or cohabiting - and their consequences for individual well-being.

The CFDR Welcomes Two New Affiliates
We are happy to announce that Karen Benjamin Guzzo and Matthew VanEseltine have joined the CFDR. Both began faculty positions in the Sociology Department in fall 2011. Dr, Guzzo was formerly at  Kutztown University and Dr. VanEseltine is from Penn State.

Brown and  Manning Win "Article of the Year" from ASA's Section on Family 
The American Sociological Association’s Section on Family selected an article by Dr. Brown and Dr. Manning as their inaugural “Article of the Year.” Their winning article is “Family Boundary Ambiguity and the Measurement of Family Structure: The Significance of Cohabitation.” It was published in Demography (2009) 46:85-101. The award was presented at the joint reception for the sections on Population and Family, August 20, 2011 at the ASA Annual Meeting.
