The Women's Center Staff

Mary Krueger, Director
As a 2-time graduate of Bowling Green State University (B.S., M.Ed.) Mary sees being the Founding Director of the BGSU Women's Center as a sort of homecoming. She also holds a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and has been teaching, training, researching, and studying sexuality and gender issues for almost 20 years. She describes herself as a teacher, a feminist, a sexologist, and a mother (not necessarily in that order), and once had a dream in which she heard herself say "The things I believe in are: justice, passion, the power of the written and spoken word, music, God, ice cream and love."

Joetta S. Kynard, Secretary
Joetta is a resident of Toledo, Ohio, who joined the BGSU family in 2003.  She has been blessed with 24 years of marital bliss and four wonderful children.  She enjoys providing service to the diversity of the Women’s Center and interacting with BGSU’s faculty, students, and staff.  Being connected to the Women’s Center allow her to further build on her 15 years of experience in office administration as well as pursue further education at the University.   Joetta loves music (especially jazz); she also enjoys boating, yoga, swimming, and gardening.  Her goal is to continue building her dreams in an environment and atmosphere that is “Changing the World by Degrees”.  Spirit of BG Award winner March 2007.

Sister Mary Kuhlman, Silent Witness Project Coordinator
Sister Mary Kuhlman is a Sister of St. Francis (Tiffin, Ohio) and a graduate of Loyola University, with a degree in Pastoral Studies. A strong proponent of women’s rights and with a passion for peace and justice issues, Sister Mary spends a significant amount of time reading and facilitating groups in transformation through involvement in the social doctrines which center around the rights and dignity of every human person and the care of all creation.  Presently, Sr. Mary is the coordinator of the Silent Witness Project at the Women’s Center, a position which is supported by Wood County Corps.  She enjoys people, being with friends, good wine, and good food.  Her favorite way to spend a free evening is with an interesting novel.

Elizabeth Schnieder, Graduate Assistant
Elizabeth (Liddy) Schnieder is a second-year Master’s Student in
History, also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies at BGSU.  While she grew up in rural upstate New York, she and her partner most recently hail from Nebraska.  She completed her BA in History and Women’s Studies at the University of Nebraska Kearney in 2006.  Liddy’s thesis research focuses on the Equal Rights Amendment and Nebraska’s rescission debates of 1972 and 1973.  Her other research interests include midwifery, midwives, reproductive rights, and the roles of health care professionals in social reform (she blames her mother, a Certified Nurse- Midwife, for this).  Liddy plans to pursue a PhD in either Women’s History or Women’s Studies.
