The Women's Center

The Brief History of a Hard Won Treasure

The Women’s Center is the product of 20 years of advocacy by community members who understood the need for such a space at BGSU. Ultimately, a proposal to institute a Women’s Center attained approval by the University Administration in 1995.

Since opening in 1998, the Women’s Center has been a vital and welcomed asset to the university and community. It serves as a gathering place, a resource center, and a meeting space for many independent campus organizations. It also provides volunteer and internship opportunities, and keeps the community informed and educated regarding women’s issues.

The Women's Center Provides:

A Gathering Place...
A variety of committees, organizations and classes meet at the Women's Center. Other visitors simply enjoy our quiet, relaxing and open environment. Guests bring lunch, peruse the library or lounge on one of our cozy couches.

A Resource Center...
Our growing library includes a plethora of books, magazines, journals and videotapes which focus on issues of women and gender. Materials are available for check out.

An Opportunity...
The Women’s Center appreciates the efforts of graduate and undergraduate interns and encourages those interested to apply. There are also many volunteer opportunities available. Volunteers may aid the staff in everyday operations or implement self-designed projects.
