Kane joined BGSU's Office of Technology Transfer & Services in August 2007. He has more than 10 years of experience in Technology
Transfer and Licensing with research universities, including: four years with the University of Michigan, specializing in
medical, pharmaceutical and physical science applications; and, six years with the University of Toledo, specializing in engineering,
pharmaceutical and physical science applications.
Kane’s career of more than 20 years in commercial industry, includes technical sales, product management, market development
and marketing management, with such international companies as Beckman Instruments, Radiometer Copenhagen, BF Goodrich and
Bell & Howell. With both a bachelor of science in chemistry and an MBA in marketing, Kane brings an understanding of and experience
in new technical product development, product marketing, advertising and promotion to his role as licensing officer for the
BGSU Office of Technology Transfer & Services.
Lorrie M. Sawaie Administrative Secretary

Sawaie has served as the administrative secretary for the Bowling Green State University Office of Technology Transfer & Services
since May 2007. Sawaie has been employed at BGSU since January 1997. She first served as secretary to the Undergraduate Student
Services Advising Office in the College of Education and Human Development from 1997-2003 and then transferred to the newly
created Office of Student Academic Achievement as a secretary II. In August 2006, she was promoted from secretary II to administrative
secretary 1.
Throughout her career at Bowling Green State University, Sawaie served on Classified Staff Council where she has held the
position of vice chair (2005-06) and chair (2006-07). She is currently a member of Classified Staff Council and its Executive
Committee. She co-chaired the Personnel Welfare Committee (2004-06) and became a voting representative and secretary to the
Ohio Staff Council for Higher Education (2005-08). This is a state-level council for equality among all staff members statewide
at state funded institutions that are not governed by unions. Currently, Sawaie is active as the chair of the Fundraising
Committee for the BGSU Relay for Life Team “The Pit Crew,” which helps to support the American Cancer Society. She also is
active in the local community and attends Cedar Creek Church in Perrysburg.
