Sustainability in BGSU Residence Halls

Coming Fall 2012 will be a new initiative to encourage sustainability in Residence Halls! There will be a Residence Life Liaison Intern! This intern will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with appropriate advisor(s) to discuss future plans;
  • Researching, beginning, and maintaining an Eco Reps program;
  • Taking an active role in educating Resident Advisors about sustainability;
  • Finding innovative ways to educate residents about sustainability and how to take part in it;
  • Organizing, supporting, and leading the Campus Conservation Nationals competition;
  • Organizing, supporting, and leading the RecyleMania competition;
  • Taking an active role in ensuring a glass recycling program is set up for each residence hall;
  • Meeting with appropriate Residence Life staff to communicate our purpose from the Office of Campus Sustainability;
  • Voicing concerns regarding the sustainability of events held by Residence Life including, but not limited to: all meetings, breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, and banquets;
  • Overall doing any actions that would result in striving towards making Residence Life and/or the residence more environmentally-conscious for postgraduate implementation.
