Information Technology Services

BGSU Information Technology Services is implementing energy reduction practices to its area.

ITS recently ran a recycled printer paper trial in the Hayes 025 lab. After receiving positive feedback on the paper quality, the department has provided each computer lab on campus with stock of recycled printer paper for regular use.

During the summer, ITS had agreed to shut off the lights in the computer labs not in use during the summer semester. Also, they put these computers in sleep mode to reduce the amount of energy consumption by the computers. However, this method did not help much during the fall and spring semesters, so ITS deployed a new operating system to the computer labs on campus. This new operating system contains various energy conservation tools to help improve the efficiency during the fall and spring semesters.

ITS is constantly making strides towards reducing its carbon footprint to help make BGSU a greener institution.

All student-oriented computer labs will feature 100% post-consumer recycled content paper thanks to dedicated student request and support
