Springboard is a graded, one-credit
hour course where first-year students gain
a competitive edge by learning the ins and outs of college survival and success from older students who have been there, done that. The skills and knowledge gained will help students succeed not only in college, but also in life after graduation.
In order to provide practical, first-hand tips, Springboard uses upperclassmen as “Coaches.” Each first-year student is paired with a Coach at the beginning of the semester to act as their personal
mentor and give them the inside scoop on BGSU. They can share common pitfalls to avoid as well as making the best of little-known opportunities on campus.
In addition to basic survival skills, Coaches will provide advanced
perspectives on improving presentation skills, building resumes and interacting in a group setting – all vital skills that will put
first-year students ahead of the game and geared up for success in their other classes!
First-year students register for UNIV 111. Coaches register for UNIV 411.
