1. FRC Research Incentive Grant Program: DUE January 31, 2008

Faculty Research Committee Research Incentive Grants (FRC-RIGs) are designed to reward and encourage the continuing efforts of faculty members who are attempting to obtain significant external grant support for their scholarly research activities.  The FRC-RIG opportunity is open to all BGSU tenured and tenure-track faculty members.

A primary purpose of the program is to provide initial seed funds for new researchers who are establishing their individual research agendas.  Additionally, the RIG offers funding opportunities to faculty researchers with strong, established research records who are expanding their current programs in substantially new directions. 

FRC-RIGs may be requested for an amount up to $10,000 to support ongoing research projects that already have resulted in the submission of external grant proposals.

2. SPAR Office to Provide grants.gov Primer, January 30, 2008

The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research will provide a additional primer on using grants.gov, January 30, 2008. Grants.gov is the federal one-stop grants web site used for funding searches, issuing requests for proposals, grant guidelines, and grants submission. It is fast becoming the primary entry point used by the federal government for grant submissions, often required INSTEAD OF the National Science Foundation's Fastlane, for some submissions to that agency. The SPAR Office will provide attendees with an overview on the features of the site as well as a using grants.gov for the submission of grants to federal agencies.

The workshop will take place in the SPAR Conference Room, 108 University Hall.

3. SPAR Office Providing Workshops on Using COS for Funding Searches in February

During the month of February, the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research will provide workshops on using COS for funding searches. COS is one of the leading funding search technologies available, and used by nearly 1,000 institutions of higher education worldwide. The COS database includes funding sources to support research, instruction, public services, performing arts, the humanities, travel, conferences, and much more.

All workshops will take place in the SPAR Conference Room, 108 University Hall;
Friday, February 1, 2008, 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Thursday, February 7, 2008, 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday, February 13, 2008, 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 10 - 11:30 a.m.
Monday, February 25, 2008, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

4. SPAR Office Providing Workshops on BGSU Documentation for Grants

The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research will present "BGSU Documentation: What, When & Why" on February 7 and 13, 2008. The workshop will address the processes and documentation required for the submission of all requests for external funding.

Two workshops are scheduled. Both will take place in the SPAR Conference Room, 108 University Hall.

Wednesday, February 13, 2008, 2 - 3:30 p.m.
