Student Financial Aid
Grants
Grants do not require repayment and usually are awarded to undergraduate students on the basis of financial need. Examples of need-based grants available to BGSU students are listed below.
FEDERAL GRANTS
To be considered for any federal grant, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed annually. Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible after January 1 prior to the school year during which financial assistance is requested.
Federal grants include:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant
STATE GRANTS
To be considered for the following state grants, students must be Ohio residents and must file the FAFSA by the state deadline, October 1, of the academic year during which the financial assistance is requested.

UNIVERSITY GRANTS
To be considered for the following university grants, students must file the FAFSA by February 15 prior to the school year during which the financial assistance is requested.
