The Office of Service-Learning Community Partnership Series
These discussion-based programs bring community partners to campus to talk about their work as well as the needs of their
organization and clients. These sessions are designed to assist faculty, staff, and students in learning more about potential
issues, needs, and partners in the community and to stimulate creative thinking about service-learning courses.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Service-Learning Opportunities with Toledo Metroparks Jean McDonald, Volunteer Coordinator, Toledo Metroparks Metroparks of the Toledo Area is an extensive park system in the Greater Toledo area. In addition to nature experiences, Metroparks
provides historical and cultural programming for its visitors. With such wide-ranging programming, Metroparks offers a wide
variety of internships that can be designed to meet the needs of the student. As an organization, Metroparks has many of the
opportunities of a large corporation in addition to the obvious areas of conservation and stewardship. Come hear Jean McDonald
discuss all of the opportunities Metroparks can provide for your service-learning course!
Tuesday, September 29, 2009 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Building Community through the Arts Jennifer Jarrett, Development Coordinator, Arts Commission of Greater Toledo With a mission to develop and promote the visual, performing and literary arts in the Northwest Ohio community, the Arts Commission
of Greater Toledo works tirelessly to provide broad access to the arts through initiatives involving business and education.
For 50 years, they have provided quality arts programming and services to those in the metropolitan Toledo area. The Arts
Commission of Greater Toledo welcomes students to get involved in their programs. From event planning and fundraising, to
planning and implementing arts programs for all ages all over our City, your students will be immersed in the day-to-day operations
of an organization working to build community and create a city in which we all want to live!
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Wood County Committee on Aging: An Overview Danielle Brogley, Director of Programs, Wood County Committee on Aging The Wood County Committee on Aging is a 501-3C organization that serves the older adults of Wood County. Its mission is to
plan and develop programs and services that will allow older adults to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.
The organization operates seven senior centers which are multi-disciplinary in nature. Join Danielle Brogley and discover
their full gamut of services and how they continue to strive to keep older adults independent in their homes.
