Located in Washington D.C., students can take part in a summer academic internship program. Through the Institute on Philanthropy
and Voluntary Service, the Institute offers a hands-on, professional experience in conjunction with an academic experience
through Georgetown University. Interns will participate in a fast paced, eight week residential program that allows students
to experience Washington D.C. working 30 hours a week. Interns will be able to take up to 9 transferable credit hours from
Georgetown University, have a furnished on-campus apartment, located in Washington, D.C., take part in direct service, leadership
and professional development, listen to guest lecturers, and many networking opportunities.
Some internship sites that have been served in the past have been: The American Red Cross, Arlington Community Foundation,
Best Buddies International, Capital Area Food Bank, D.C. Central Kitchen, Discovery Creek Children's Museum, Doorways for
Women and Families, First Book, Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, Greater D.C. Cares, International Relief and Development,
Junior Achievement, National Building Museum, Philanthropy Roundtable, Rachael's Women's Center, Share our Strength, Smithsonian
Institution, Washington Area Women's Foundation, Washington National Opera, and YMCA
