Service-Learning Community Partnership Series
These discussion-based programs bring community partners to campus to talk about their work as well as the needs of their
organization and clients. These sessions are designed to assist faculty, staff, and students in learning more about potential
issues, needs, and partners in the community and to stimulate creative thinking about service-learning courses.
All events are held in the Center for Teaching and Learning, 201 University Hall
Monday September 15th 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Behavioral Connections Victims Services Julie Broadwell, Program Manager Victims Services provides 24/7 crisis intervention and support to victims of domestic/dating violence and sexual assault.
Victim advocates provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, medical and legal advocacy, and referrals
for sexual assault, stalking and dating/domestic victims. The presenter will give an overview of the different services for

Tuesday, October 7th 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wood County Historical Society Kelli Kling, Marketing, PR, and Special Events The Wood County Historical Center, formerly the County Poor House, preserves and interprets unique aspects of local history
through exhibits, programs, tours, and events, from revealing "Victorian's Secret", a look at underwear and the women's movement
of the Victorian era, to tackling tough issues like mental health and the Lunatic Asylum. Join us as we discuss current and

Thursday, October 30th Toledo GROWs Michael Szuberla, Manager Michael Szuberla will provide information about Toledo GROWs, a community gardening outreach program of the Toledo Botanical
Garden that involves citizens in Lucas and Wood counties in community gardening programs. Toledo GROWs helps low-income participants
cultivate fresh produce to support a healthful and affordable diet while building community pride and stewardship. Mr. Szuberla
will also be able to discuss specific ways in which Toledo GROWs and BGSU can partner for service-learning opportunities. Presentation (pdf format) Toledo GROWs Website
