Catholic Charities: Project SERVE (Service and Education through Residential Volunteer Experience)
http://www.catholiccharities-md.org/volunteer/projectserve.html
Project SERVE is a service-learning opportunity provided by Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Maryland. It is open to recent college graduates interested in serving others prior to attending graduate school or beginning a career, who would like to get involved in the social service and non-profit sectors. Volunteers live in community housing in downtown Baltimore City and work at a variety of Catholic Charities programs that include opportunities such as working with the homeless, recent immigrants, at-risk children, foster care families, and senior citizens.
Volunteers are provided with rent and utility-free housing, health insurance, a monthly stipend for living expenses, and an AmeriCorps Education Award of $4,725.00 that can be used toward student loans or continuing education upon successful completion of the program. Project SERVE provides an ideal environment for obtaining practical, meaningful work experience while serving and working for social justice.
The Project SERVE term is approximately August 25 through July 25.
