On Monday February 25th and Tuesday February 26th 2008, Bowling Green State University will be hosting a series of special events connected to our engagement with Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life
(http://www.imaginingamerica.org/).
There are a variety of ways for all members of the BGSU community to be part of these events. Further details of each event and details of how to register or attend are listed below.

Monday is designed to connect BGSU faculty and staff with the work of Imagining America and to enhance work on our own campus around public scholarship. Events include a breakfast meeting for Chairs and Directors, lunchtime Arts and Sciences Forum keynote/ luncheon with Jan Cohen-Cruz (Director of Imagining America), an afternoon workshop for graduate students interested in public work, and an early evening reception and discussion of ongoing public scholarship in the School of Art.

On Tuesday we will be hosting a one day regional networking meeting of Imagining America featuring presentations and discussions with colleagues from BGSU, Ohio State University, Miami University, the University of Cincinnati, University of Waterloo, University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Owens Community College.

Please take some time to review the full details of this event and plan to join us for the activities.

What is Imagining America?
Imagining America: Artists and Scholars in Public Life ( http://www.imaginingamerica.org/) is a national consortium of colleges and universities committed to public scholarship in the arts, humanities, and design. Public scholarship joins serious intellectual endeavor with a commitment to public practice and public consequence. It includes:
1. Scholarly and creative work jointly planned and carried out by university and community partners;
2. Intellectual work that produces a public good;
3. Artistic, critical, and historical work that contributes to public debates;
4. Efforts to expand the place of public scholarship in higher education itself, including the development of new programs and research on the successes of such efforts.
5. Public scholarship in the arts and humanities integrates all the missions of higher education: research, teaching, service, and public engagement.
