Michigan.
AmeriCorps http://www.americorps.org/ Created in 1993, AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engages in intensive service to meet critical needs
in education, public safety, health, and the environment. AmeriCorps is part of the Corporation for National and Community
Service, which also oversees Senior Corps and Learn and Serve America. Partners in Community Action helped create an AmeriCorps
program called Wood County Corps in 2004. This program was housed in the Office of Service-Learning and in the fall of 2007
moved to be housed with the United Way of Greater Toledo – United Way in Wood County as part of a partnership between BGSU
and United Way of Greater Toledo. The university also has a program called the M3C Fellows Program, which is an education
award-only AmeriCorps program and is collaboration between the Office of Service-Learning and Student Support Services.

education. Its members are committed to extending the advantage of a liberal education to all students, regardless of their

to the vitality of the Bowling Green area. BG File is a project of Sea Lion Studio, a non-profit digital media production
studio in Bowling Green, Ohio.

can relax and play in a fun and safe environment. Teen Central offers mentoring by BGSU students, homework help, drop-in services,

Camp Adventure http://www.uni.edu/campadv/ Camp Adventure Youth Services is a student-run, not-for-profit, educational organization. It provides an extraordinary opportunity
for university and college-age students to participate in a worthwhile and valuable service-learning experience. College and
university-age students will have the opportunity to travel to other countries to work with school-age children and youths.
Financial benefits and compensation (food, lodging, transportation, and miscellaneous items) as well as 12 hours of credit
at a reduced rate are available for accepted staff members. BGSU students have participated in this program many times via

(CRC) Children’s Resource Center http://www.wcnet.org/~crckids/ The Children's Resource Center provides evaluation, treatment, and guidance to families of children with behavioral and/or
emotional problems. The CRC specializes in services to preschool children and services to older children with multiple problems.
The CRC assesses and plans for social, psychological, medical, financial, educational, and recreational needs of the child.
The CRC has specialized services for teen aged parents with young children and children in need of intensive intervention.
The CRC also has car seats for all Wood County families who have children below 40 lbs. or four years of age. Project C.A.R.E.
provides mental health services jointly on-site with Lake and Eastwood School Districts.

(CCPH) Community-Campus Partnerships for Health http://depts.washington.edu/ccph CCPH is a nonprofit organization that promotes health through partnerships between communities and higher educational institutions.
Founded in 1996, they are a growing network of over 1000 communities and campuses. CCPH has members throughout the United
States and increasingly the world who are collaborating to promote health through service-learning, community-based research,
community service and other partnership strategies. These partnerships are powerful tools for improving the education of health
professionals, civic responsibility and the overall health of communities.
The Community Partnership http://www.communityprevention.org The Community Partnership is a systematic coalition dedicated to creating an environment in which substance abuse is impacted.
They bring community resources together to address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention and intervention issues to
promote an environment that encourages healthy lifestyles. A key part of their strategy is youth development and youth empowerment
through their Coalition for Youth Enrichment. The Coalition for Youth Enrichment, CYE, id a committee of The Community Partnership which, was formed in 2000 as a respond
to the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board Community Plan, which identified a need for an organized body for youth-serving
agencies within Lucas County. The committee's mission is to convene youth-service providers to encourage collaborative, inter-agency,
cross-cultural leadership and activities to build a community that values and helps youth prepare for successful adult lives.
All of the committee's projects and prevention efforts are organized around a partnership between adults and youth. CYE links
various groups that serve youth to coordinate goals and youth messages, prevent the overlap of services, and hold joint events.
CYE organizes the CAPA City Youth Leadership Conference (held biennially) which embraces service-learning approaches and facilitates the Greater Toledo Youth Service Day with support from Youth Service America, which is an opportunity for area youth to join youth from all over the world to
collectively provide service as part of Global Youth Service Day. The Office of Service-Learning and Partnership for Community
Action have provided training about service-learning and civic engagement for CYE and are working on developing an on-going
relationship with the Community Partnership.
(CNCS) Corporation for National and Community Service http://www.nationalservice.gov/home/site_map/index.asp The CNCS wascreated by the 1993 National and Community Service Trust Act to administer and distribute federal funds to engage
people of all ages and backgrounds in local, community-based service. The corporation’s work includes AmeriCorps, the National
Senior Corps, and Learn and Serve America. Its publications are useful for program design and evaluation.
E. Bus http://www.communityconnect.org/ This program launched in 1998, is the brainchild of Dr. David Springett, President of the Community College Foundation in
California. The first bus was created to train teachers and educators how to integrate technology into the classroom. BGSU
has a working group exploring the possibility of bringing an e.Bus to our community to support service-learning and outreach
efforts.
East Toledo http://timault.tripod.com/East_Toledo_neighborhood_map.html A section of Toledo, Ohio that was heavily industrialized in the late 1870’s, but has, in the past few decades, been stricken
with economic hardship and stagnation. Two schools in East Toledo (East Toledo Junior High and Waite High School) are partners
with BGSU in the GEAR UP grant program. East Toledo is bounded by the suburb of Rossford on the west, the Maumee River on
the north, the subsection of Birmingham on the east, and the suburb of Northwood on the south.
(FLOC) The Farm Labor Organizing Committee http://www.floc.com FLOC is a labor union, based out of Toledo, Ohio, that serves migrant and seasonal farm workers by serving as an advocate
for labor and civil rights. Led by Baldemar Velasquez, FLOC has conducted and won two major boycotts against Mt. Olive Pickles
and Campbell’s Soup, respectively. PCA and CITE have worked with FLOC on several projects in the past, and they enjoy strong
ties with the organization.
Global Youth Service Day http://ysa.org/GYSD/AboutGYSD/tabid/171/Default.aspx#overview Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world. The goals of Global Youth Service Day are: 1) To MOBILIZE
youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through service; 2) To SUPPORT youth on a life-long path of service
and civic engagement; 3) To EDUCATE the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people
as community leaders. In Lucas County the Coalition for Youth Enrichment of the Community Partnership sponsors Greater Toledo Youth Service Day. The Office of Service-Learning and Partnership for Community Action have provided training about service-learning and civic
engagement for CYE and are working on developing an on-going relationship with the Community Partnership.
Jimmy Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation Fostering Campus-Community Partnerships For Academic Service and Learning http://www.jrcpf.org The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation focuses on young adults with a mission to "mobilize campus and community
service partnerships by recognizing and rewarding the best practices in academic service-learning." The Foundation utilizes
a number of strategies to foster and support academic service-learning projects between campus and community organizations,
including the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Award for Campus-Community Collaboration, which recognizes best practices
of existing programs and provides a monetary award and status as a Certified Carter Partnership.
Kids Unlimited http://kidsunlimitedtoledo.org/ Kids Unlimited is an after-school program for elementary schools located in the central city of Toledo. They currently operate
out of Englewood Peace Academy, Lincoln Academy for Boys, Nathan Hale Elementary, and Lagrange Elementary. Kids Unlimited
commits to helping children of the inner-city develop the academic, social and moral tools they need to realize their true
dignity and potential. Their mission goals are to improve reading and language skills, to improve the children’s health; particularly
nutrition and exercise, and to teach character values.

Northwest Ohio Service Learning Dialog Project This is an ongoing collaboration facilitated by the United Way of Greater Toledo, bringing together representatives from the
higher education, K-12, and non-profit sectors to dialog about service-learning, civic engagement, volunteerism, and community
service in northwest Ohio. Over the past year the group determined that this region is lacking in resources and lags behind
in the infrastructure needed to support teachers/faculty, volunteer coordinators and student service-learners. A strategic
plan is being created which meets our mission to “Develop the capacity of educational institutions and community organizations
to establish partnerships that provide quality service learning experiences for students in Northwest Ohio.”

primary purpose is to promote student and institutional civic participation and social responsibility. OCC actively engages
and supports its members in civic work that educates for active citizenship, enhances student learning, builds sustainable
campus/community partnerships, improves the social and economic well-being of communities and helps fulfill the public mission

(OCSC) Ohio Community Service Council http://www.serveohio.org The Ohio Community Service Council was established by Ohio statute in 1994 (its original name was the Governor's Community
Service Commission), specifically to administer grants in Ohio under the federal National & Community Service Trust Act of
1993. The largest of these is AmeriCorps. However, the Council has always worked under a broader mission:
“The mission of the Ohio Community Service Council is to strengthen Ohio's communities through service and volunteerism."
In that collaborative spirit of volunteerism and service, the council focuses on five major activities:

(PHCA) Perrysburg Heights Community Association http://phca.smartchange.org/index.php The Perrysburg Heights Community Association was established for the purpose of promoting and improving pride and the quality
of life among all the residents of the Perrysburg Heights area. Through involving the community in educational, social, recreational
and neighborhood improvement programs, a new beginning and image will become a reality for the Heights community. The Association
works to develop individual pride and self-worth by empowering individuals and promoting total community participation in
its programs.
Sofia Quintero Cultural Arts Center http://www.toledolibrary.org/cip/view2.asp?id1=1292 The center was founded in 1996 by members of the Mexican-American community to support the artistic expressions of the local
Latino community in South Toledo. Sofia Quintero Art & Cultural Center is located at 122 Broadway Street. The center holds
workshops on Hispanic art, displays Hispanic art, and also holds celebrations of Hispanic festivities, such as Dia De Los

(UCF) United Christian Fellowship http://www.ucf-bg.com United Christian Fellowship is a community and spiritual development center located directly across from BGSU on Thurstin
St. It is a Campus Youth Ministry that aids BGSU students in serving the greater Bowling Green Community, and works in partnership
with other faith based organizations in Bowling Green. UCF sponsors and organizes cultural immersion trips, the community
garden project, and an after-school program for Bowling Green students. The staff at UCF has been very active in service-learning
outreach courses that take students to the South Bronx, the Navajo reservation in Arizona, and Peru. The UCF Center offers
a variety of volunteer opportunities in community-based projects for low-income children and families. UCF is an ongoing partner
