Office of Service-Learning
Events

We offer a number of service-learning related professional development opportunities and events every semester for faculty, staff, students, and community partners. On campus we collaborate with The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology in a range of activities including workshops, forums, and learning communities. Visit the following links for upcoming events and our archive of previous events.

Service-Learning Faculty Focus Series
Ongoing Event
These discussion based programs feature faculty talking about their service-learning courses and experiences working with all aspects of service-learning and civic engagement.

Community Partnership Forums
Ongoing Event
These discussion-based programs bring community partners to campus to talk about their work as well as the needs of their organization and clients. These sessions are designed to assist faculty, staff, and students in learning more about potential issues, needs, and partners in the community and to stimulate creative thinking about service-learning courses.

Service-Learning Workshops and Lectures
Ongoing Event
Throughout the year we offer professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Themes of the workshops and lectures range from an introduction to service-learning and civic engagement to intensive explorations of service-learning course design strategies.

Volunteer and Campus Community Partnership Fair
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
The Office of Service-Learning will be hosting the first annual Volunteer and Community Partnerships Fair. This fair will offer an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to meet local agencies. It will serve as an open window for relationships and partnerships, to be developed between the BGSU community and surrounding agencies. If you are interested in participating on the planning committee or are part of a local agency interested in participating in the fair, please contact BGSUPartnerships@bgsu.edu.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Challenge
Monday, January 17, 2011
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spent his life working toward the dream of equality. When Martin Luther King Day was declared a national holiday, Congress declared a "day on" doing service, rather than a day off. The Martin Luther King Day Service Challenge is a day spent to transform Dr. King's ideals into service for the community, addressing social needs.
