BGSU Service Corps: Wood County Corps members (an AmeriCorps program serving Wood County) work with the Office of Service-Learning to help build and provide leadership
for the service-learning and civic engagement program at BGSU. If you are interested in serving for a year as a member of
the BGSU Service Corps please contact the office to make an appointment and check out the Wood County Corps website to find
out more about what national service as part of AmeriCorps involves. If you wish to request support from a BGSU Service Corps
member for your class, community based project or partnerships please contact our office.
Course Conversion: If you are interested in incorporating Service-Learning into your course—as one component among many, or as the predominant
pedagogy—we are here to help you. OSL in collaboration with the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology offers an annual Core Commitments Service-Learning Faculty Learning Community for faculty who wish to redesign or create a new service-learning course. Applications are due in late spring for the following
year. A $3,000 Service-Learning Course Development Grant , sponsored by the BGSU Bookstore is awarded to each member of the learning community.
Project Consultancy The staff of the office are also happy to provide one-on-one consultancy on course development and all course related issues.

Grant Opportunities: OSL is here to help members of the BGSU community apply for grants and scholarships related to Service-Learning and civic
engagement.
Presentations: We can provide speakers and customized presentations about Service-Learning, civic engagement, community partnerships, and
the aspects of community based learning and collaboration for faculty meetings, student orientations, community groups, and
a variety of other settings.

Professional Development: We offer a number of service-learning related professional development opportunities every semester for faculty, staff, students,
and community partners. On campus we collaborate with The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology in a range of activities

We also provide access to a variety of regional, state, national and international conferences and training.
Resource Library: Our office holds an extensive library of scholarly materials related to Service-Learning in general, and course development
and conversion in particular. Use of these materials is free and they may be checked out from our office.
Student Opportunities: OSL offers a variety of practicum and internship opportunities for BGSU students. Past projects include curriculum development,
data analysis, program and event planning and research. In addition, BGSU students participate in a wide variety of Service-Learning
courses in departments across both the Main and Firelands campuses.
