The Office of Service-Learning was created in September 2006 as the result of the report of the President’s Committee on Service-Learning, which met during
the academic year 2005-2006, and submitted its formal report in the summer of 2006. As a result of the report, President
Ribeau created an Office of Service-Learning reporting jointly to the Provost and to the Dean of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Jane
Rosser was appointed as the first Director on September 1, 2006.
Campus Compact: BGSU has been a member of Campus Compact since 1999 and is an active member of Ohio Campus Compact. The use of Service-Learning
continues to expand across the United States, due in large part to the efforts of Campus Compact and its state-specific subsidiaries.
Campus Compact is a national coalition of more than 1100 college and university Presidents committed to the civic purposes
of higher education. (www.compact.org)
Ohio Campus Compact (OCC) is a statewide membership organization of colleges and universities whose primary purpose is to promote student and institutional
