The Campus Escort Service is a student organization that serves
all Bowling Green State University students, faculty and staff.
The organization's goal is to offer an alternative to walking
alone after dark.
We believe that safety is found in numbers, and should be available
to all members of the BGSU community. Therefore, BGSU escorts
are pleased to escort any individual to, from and around the
Bowling Green State University campus.
A safe alternative to walking alone
All members of the Campus Escort Service must pass a police
security background check. In addition, the coordinator of the
Campus Escort Service interviews each new member. After this
process is complete and references are checked, the new member
begins a structured "on the job" training program
to prepare him or her for service.
After the completion of training, each escort member receives
an official BGSU Campus Escort Service photo-identification
badge. Staff members wear these badges at all times for easy
identification. Usually a pair of escorts will arrive to see
you to your destination. Each escort also carries a two-way
handheld radio to maintain contact with the University Police
dispatchers.
In order for your escort to easily identify you and document
our activity, we respectfully request that you provide the escort
dispatcher with the following information when you call to request
an escort:
- first and last name
- current location and phone number
- desired destination
- brief personal description for easy identification
- desired pick-up time
We will then provide you with an estimated time of arrival
for your escort.
Campus Escort services
If you find yourself alone after dark and have some place to
go, call the Campus Escort Service. The service can provide
an escort:
- to any location on campus
- from campus to any single location within Bowling Green
City limits
While we can never guarantee a ride, we will always be able
to provide you with an escort, so dress for the weather.
Occasionally you may see our campus escort vehicle throughout
the city. It is used to maintain efficiency of the service.
Request a "standing run" if you have a regularly
scheduled time that you will require an escort throughout the
semester. Many people utilize this special service when attending
work, night classes, and meetings. Simply call our office during
operational hours and request a standing run from our dispatcher.
Once your information is in our standing run file, you can count
on us to arrive and escort you at the time and location of your
choice.
Our organization can provide a presentation that outlines our
services to any organization concerned about its members' safety.

valuable personal skills. In addition to communication skills
developed through interaction with a variety of people, you
can also develop leadership skills through participation in
training programs and committee experiences. These opportunities
provide a basis for success in college today and in a career
tomorrow.
The Campus Escort Service is a student organization that is
