Support the MLK Jr. Day of Service

Each year the MLK Jr. Day of Service Challenge engages over 500 BGSU students, faculty, and staff in “a day on, not a day off.”  Participants dedicate a collective 4,000 community service hours to more than 30 Northwest Ohio community agencies with such projects like building park benches, making blankets for the homeless, painting shelters, collecting non-perishable food items, and much more.

MLK Jr. Day of Service Challenge T-Shirts.This year we are selling t-shirts to raise money for the event.  If you plan to participate in the day of service you will get a free t-shirt.  However, if you are unable to participate in the event here are some other ways you can support it:

  1. Purchase a limited time only MLK Jr. Day of Service Challenge t-shirt for $11.99 at the BGSU Bookstore in the student union or online at:  nice.sh/mlk  ($7.00/shirt goes directly to support the event)
  2. Encourage friends and colleagues to participate by asking them to visit the MLK Jr. Day of Service webpage.
  3. Donate non-perishable food items or hygiene products for the MLK Jr. Day Food Drive.  You can drop those items off at the Office of Service-Learning in 315 University Hall from now until MLK Jr. Day or bring them to the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Ballroom between the hours of 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on January 21, 2013.  For a list of items needed please visit the MLK Jr. Day of Service webpage.

If you should have any questions please feel free to contact the Office of Service-Learning at communityservice@bgsu.edu or 419-372-9865.
