Parent's Night Out

BGSU Recreation and Wellness is offering Parent’s Night Out and Parent’s Afternoon Off. These youth programs are designed to give children a Kid’s Camp experience while adults enjoy themselves for the night or for an afternoon of holiday shopping!  Kids in grades K-6 take part in rock climbing, holiday-themed events, swimming, movies, popcorn and crafts - activities unlike those with an ordinary babysitter.  Don't worry about feeding the kids--pizza is served to all participants. Program dates and times are:

  • Friday, November 13, 6-10 PM - $17 per participant
  • Saturday, December 5, 12-5 PM - $17 per participant

Note: A 10% discount is awarded families for each additional child after the first child is enrolled in the camps

You can register by phone at 419.372.2000 (credit card required) or in person at the Student Recreation Center Front Desk (cash, check, MC/Visa/Discover/BG1).

A release form must be signed and submitted at time of drop-off. Visit the Recreation and Wellness Youth and Family website for the form and event details or contact Terry Carver at tcarver@bgsu.edu or 419.372.7487 with questions.

Commencement Volunteers Needed

BGSU CommencementCommencement is a time of ceremony and pageantry, a time for celebrating academic achievements and a time to begin the next step in life.  Family and friends gather to witness this formal end to a student’s college years; faculty, staff and trustees join the tradition of conferring degrees; and students participate in an annual rite that marks their individual accomplishments. The Fall 2009 commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, December 18 at 7pm and Saturday, December 19 at 10am and will be held in Anderson Arena. Please join this celebration and visit our online sign-up sheet to volunteer and/or receive additional information. Volunteers are currently being recruited for:

  • Disabled Seating Assistants
  • Lobby East or West Door Assistants (directing visitor traffic)
  • Second Floor East or West Hallway Assistants (directing visitor traffic)
  • Olscamp 101 Assistants (overflow location)
  • Floater (anything not listed above)

Once the ceremony officially begins and no one needs further assistance, your volunteer responsibilities would conclude with our appreciation.  You are invited to stay and enjoy the complimentary refreshments. If you have any questions, please contact Bonita Bembry at 419-372-2381 or Jen Moore at 419-372-2774.
