Careers in Community Organizing for Social Justice

Direct Action and Research TrainingCareers in Community Organizing for Social Justice are available to BGSU graduating students and alumni. The Direct Action & Research Training (DART) Center will be on the BGSU campus on Monday, November 9 at 7pm in Room 201B of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Room to discuss careers in the field of community organizing, and to schedule interviews with students interested in empowering their communities and working for social change.

19th Annual Gerald L. Saddlemire Lecture

Dr. Peter ReaThe Division of Student Affairs and Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs are pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Rea (CSP '81) will speak at the 19th Annual Gerald L. Saddlemire Lecture. The lecture, entitled Character-Based Leadership in Higher Education, will take place at 10am on Thursday, November 5 in Room 308 of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

Dr. Rea currently serves as the Burton D. Morgan Chair for Entrepreneurial Studies at Baldwin-Wallace College. He provided leadership to create, launch and operate Baldwin-Wallace's Center for Innovation and Growth. The center, built on corporate partnerships that promote economic development, provides students and executives with practical experience in creating economic value driven by innovation and guided by integrity.


Walk-the-Walk

Walking for health and fitnessWalk the Walk with the Trainer will be a structured walking group for BGSU employees that meets over the lunch from 12:15-1pm at the Perry Field House on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting November 10. Every participant will get a free pedometer. The group will be led by Layne Davis a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor at BGSU. It will be a mix of education, support, and walking. Participants will be shown how to track their daily steps online. There will be prizes for employees that finish the entire program, which runs from November 10-December 10.

 Also, WellAware will be offering a Free Family Fun Skate Sunday, November 15 from 3:30-5:30pm for all BGSU employees and their families at the BGSU Ice Arena.
