NASPA Award Winner Comes From BGSU

Congratulations to Dr. Bill Knight, Associate Vice Provost for Planning and Accountability, who was recently recognized with the Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education Award from NASPA-IV East.

The Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education award is reserved for someone who has rendered services in programs, policies, or research that has made a national impact and who has contributed to the broad reach of higher education. Dr. Knight was nominated by several members of the BGSU community. In their letters, the nominators spoke to Dr. Knight’s passion for student success, his commitment to student affairs and higher education, and his teaching and advising experience. One nominator wrote,

Dr. Knight is passionate about student success and exhibits his support for the Division of Student Affairs in both spirit and action. At BGSU, he is at the forefront in helping faculty and staff understand the importance of student engagement and in advocating for programs and services provided by student affairs.”

Dr. Knight has had a long career in assessment, planning, and evaluation. He has been at BGSU for over 14 years and has authored numerous publications and given multiple presentations at both the national and regional level. He has advocated for student success throughout his career by serving on thesis and dissertation committees, providing guidance and advising to practicum students, and teaching graduate-level classes within the Department of Higher Education and Student Affairs. Through his recognition as a regional award winner, Dr. Knight also will be considered for the national Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education Award.
