BGSU & NASPA IV-East Conference
BG SU has been a very active institutional member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and was very well represented at NASPA’s Region IV-East annual conference, during November 2-4 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Several BGSU participants took part in pre-conference institutes and served on event leadership committees. Once again, participation assures a strong link between BG SU and NASPA.
Among the Bowling Green State University delegation were: Dr. Ed Whipple, Vice President for Student Affairs; Deanna Vatan Woodhouse, Assistant to the VPSA; Mary Ellen Gillespie, Assistant Athletic Director for Development; Crystal Taylor, Assistant Director of TRiO Collegiate Services; and Reggie Shouse, Residence Hall Director. Several graduate students also attended, including C.J. Mathis, Carlos Northern, Cynthia Payne. The trio provided leadership for the Midwest Meeting of Graduate Students in Student Personnel (MMOGSISP), which ran concurrently with the main regional conference.
Undergraduate students Preston Reilly and Adam Kowalski attended the “Bring a Student Challenge,” a half-day seminar for current undergraduates who are interested in exploring a career in student affairs. They also took first place in their level of the Student Affairs Case Study Competition. Congratulations, Preston and Adam.
While in Indianapolis, Dr. Whipple hosted an evening reception for alumni and friends of BG SU . The event, with over fifty attendees, brought together past and present BG SU staff, current students and their families, and alumni. Dr. Whipple provided guests with an update on Division activities, while Mary Ellen Gillespie offered information about our student-athletes and athletic facilities. Adam Kowalski and Preston Reilly also shared brief remarks about their BG SU experience.
