2009 APICS Award Winner The 2009 APICS International Student and Voluntary Service Award is being presented to Amanda Braddock, a May 2009 graduate. Amanda has been actively involved as an officer for the BGSU Student APICS Chapter since December 2007. She has developed innovative marketing techniques, organized the financial records, and helped lead two APICS case competition teams to international competitions. Amanda’s marketing efforts helped increase membership in BGSU’s student organization from 30 to a high of 70 in fall 2008. Her hard work has also contributed to a doubling of the number of undergraduate freshmen enrolled in the Supply Chain Management specialization. Amanda helped plan and coordinate the BGSU APICS first international plant tour and cultural visit to Germany. Traveling with nine other APICS student leaders, Amanda helped plan the trip to Munich and Stuttgart to visit multiple manufacturing facilities as well as cultural sites. Amanda participated in BGSU’s Geo-Journey, a two-month road trip around the United States combining geology, environmental studies, Native American studies, and critical thinking honors courses. She served as activities chair for Base Campus (the Geo-Journey alumni group) during the 2006-2007 academic year and remains active in environmental issues.
Academically, Amanda maintained a 4.0 GPA. She was selected as a peer facilitator in fall 2007, where Amanda assisted new students to successfully transition to the University. She completed two internships, one with John Deere and a second with British Petroleum. She graduated with an honors diploma, having completed an honors project “As the Era of Oil Comes to an End." In recognition of her achievements, Amanda was selected as one of the commencement speakers in May 2009. As a result of her combined experiences, she was offered a full-time position with BP, which she started in August. Congratulations Amanda on your exceptional accomplishments!
