Inaugural Entrepreneurship Competition

Matthew Miller was the winner of the Dallas-Hamilton B!G Idea and Christopher Chilcote won first place in the Ron Whitehouse Business Plan Competition. The winners were chosen April 8 during the Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship.

Miller, a junior from Mount Vernon majoring in communications, took home first place for his “Magnetag” idea — an innovative tagging system for IDs and licenses. He received a $3,500 scholarship.

Tom Hiles, Chris Chilcote, Bob Sebo, Ken BorlandChilcote, a senior from Findlay, majoring in marketing with a minor in entrepreneurship, took home first place for “Swatch Finder.” Swatch Finder is a “color management software application program,” which is used by professional designers. He received $20,000 in seed money and in-kind services.

The B!G Idea runner-up was Ben Vollmar for “Stereoline,” an arts-centered clothing sold online. Vollmar is majoring in business and specializing in the I-Business Degree (Individual Degree) with an entrepreneurship minor.

The second place winner for the Ron Whitehouse competition was Micah Nyamari for “What a Visit.com,” a single Web site to find local business information. He is in the College of Technology minoring in entrepreneurship.

This inaugural Northwest Ohio Business Plan competition was sponsored by the College of Business Administration and the Dallas-Hamilton Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
