BGSU Student Veterans
On March 18, 2010 an "Honoring BGSU Student Veterans" event was held in the Multipurpose Room of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Student veterans, faculty members, administrators, and staff members enjoyed dinner conversations that explored student-veteran reintegration and academic needs. Attendees were also given updates from the Veteran Assessment and Service Team and the Student Veteran Task Force, two groups working on behalf of student veterans at BGSU. An extension of thanks is expressed to Vice Presidents Borland, Colom, and Whipple for their financial support of the evening.

Recognize Outstanding BGSU Student Employees
The Career Center's Student Employment Services is offering an opportunity to formally recognize the contributions of Bowling Green State University students who work. The Student Employee Awards Committee is calling for nominations in four categories:
- Outstanding Student Employee Working On Campus
- Outstanding Student Employee Working Off Campus
- Outstanding Co-op or Intern
- Outstanding Student Employee Team Working On Campus
The students who are selected as recipients in the first three categories will receive a $500 scholarship and an engraved plaque. The team selected as the Outstanding Student Employee Team (working on campus) will share a $500 scholarship and the department will receive an engraved plaque to display for one year. All nominees will be introduced at the reception and receive certificates of recognition. The award recipients will be selected by a committee and announced at the 9th Annual Student Employee Appreciation and Scholarship Reception to be held from 3-5pm on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in 101 Olscamp Hall. The reception is co-sponsored by Coca-Cola.
Consider all of your BGSU student employees, including those who may not have highly visible jobs, yet whose meritorious work contributes to your organization’s overall success. Please refer to the online nomination form for specific award criteria for each category. When completing the nomination form, consider the criteria and describe the behavior your nominee exhibits that distinguishes the student(s) from others or makes them deserving of this award. Please include all pertinent information about the nominees’ qualifications for the award. Nominations will be accepted from direct supervisors and other personnel. Nomination forms for all four categories are available at the Career Center website. For more information, contact Linda Szykowny at 419-372-2610. Nomination deadline is March 31, 2010.

Moreover, it will serve as a call-to-action to combat these issues. The event will take place in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union on March 31 between the hours of 11am and 9pm. Student Budget Committee Membership
The Student Budget Committee (SBC) is open to all enrolled BGSU students, including graduate and undergraduate students, regardless of academic major. Members of the SBC play a vital role in student life on campus. The committee reviews and allocates funding requests for all registered student organizations—including annual funding, spot funding, and Coca-Cola sponsorship funding and product allocation. Serving on the SBC is a great opportunity to have an impact on student organizations, gain budgeting experience, and learn more about the 300 student groups at BGSU.
Members of the SBC serve for an academic year, beginning in September. Details regarding the time commitment of the SBC are outlined on the application. The membership application is now available online. Applications are due Friday, April 1 by 5pm.
