Spotlight on BGSU Greek Affairs

Bowling Green State University Panhellenic Council Wins Highest Achievement

Over 30 students from BGSU’s Greek community traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, February 12-15, for the Mid-American Greek Council Associations annual conference. The MGCA conference works to stimulate the growth and development of college Greek Councils by promoting leadership and educational experiences for student leaders at colleges and universities.  The conference offers leaders from Greek communities many  different sessions on several different topics to help them learn information that will be beneficial to their position within their Greek community.

At the conference the BGSU’s Panhellenic community came home with one of the highest awards given at the conference, the Sutherland Division IV Award.  This recognized the Panhellenic Council as the best Council in the region.  Division IV is the region with some of the largest Greek communities in the country.

The Sutherland  Award recognizes Greek Councils who demonstrate superior strength in eight area: academic achievement, philanthropy and service, membership recruitment, risk reduction and management, self-governance and judicial affairs, public relations, leadership and education development, and council management.

In addition to the award won by the Panhellenic Council, both IFC and NPHC were recognized for achieving excellence in many of the categories mentioned above and both improved upon their performance from last year.  NPHC also won the stroll show during the conference, an impressive achievement.
