McDonald Hall – Saving the World One Can at a Time

Staff and students in McDonald Residence Hall are working hard to make Mac, and the rest of the BG campus, a greener place to live. Students are motivated by BGSU’s participation in RecycleMania , the nationwide competition to see which college or university can recycle the most. McDonald Resident Advisor, Meghan Lane, is leading the initiative by planning programs that teach students different ways to be kinder to the environment. One of her programs, “The Glowworm Café” taught residents how to conserve energy by simply putting their computers into hibernation mode. Another program, “Dishes for Fishes,” donated old dishes from BGSU Dining locations to students to decorate and then utilize instead of disposable plastic plates, cups, and utensils. Meghan said the goal of the program was “to reinforce the concept of reusing and conserving to improve sustainability”. Meghan also transformed what most would consider “trash” into art for her bulletin board promoting recycling on campus. Good job, Meghan!
