Programming Internships
Every semester the Programming Coordinator hires 4-6 programming intern assistants in exchange for academic credit. BGSU
students work approximately 10 hours a week while taking classes. Some popular majors include Recreation and Tourism, Public
Relations and Journalism. The Program Intern supports the Program Coordinator in development, implementation and assessment
of educational, social, cultural and recreational programming in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The Intern assists the
Program Coordinator in working with student organizations and University departments in the development of their programs
and services in the Student Union. The Program Intern may be provided experiences in Event Planning and Reservations. This
person is required to work some evenings and weekends throughout the course of the semester.
General Responsibilities Include

Plan, implement and evaluate educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union

Taking care of room set-up, hospitality, advancing the details of an event, and evaluating an event

Create and implement program marketing plans, including designing publicity and carry out each aspect of those plans

Develop programs for the following semester including surveying community needs and interests, researching new programming
ideas via Internet, and talking with University student organizations and departments

Work with the Union Event Planning staff to secure space as well as facility and A/V needs for Union-sponsored programs

Ability to problem solve

Ability to take initiative and provide assistance where needed
