BGSU's TRIO Collegiate Services office is the home of two federally-funded TRIO programs programs at BGSU: Student Support Services and the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement program. The U.S. Department of Education describes TRIO Programs as "educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds". BGSU's TRIO Collegiate Services Office is under the direction of Sidney Childs.

Student Support Services (SSS) is a learning community that offers advising, tutoring, mentoring, academic support, success workshops, and access to additional financial aid for participants who has received a Federal Pell Grant. To be eligible to participate, student must be a first generation college student, has a Pell grant and/or meets the Federal Income Guidelines and needs academic support or has a documented disability.

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is named after the fallen Challenger astronaut. McNair programs are committed to training talented first-generation, low-income undergraduates OR students from underrepresented minorities for successful admission into graduate school and completion of a Doctoral degree. To be eligible, students must be committed to attending graduate school after receiving their bachelor’s degree and have a GPA of 2.7 or higher.
