A BGSU student is eligible to enroll in the BGSU-offered plan:
- During the open-enrollment period for the fall or spring semester
- When enrolled in 8+ credit hours on main campus
Domestic students can visit their MyBGSU pages and use the " Student Insurance Requirement " link, select the "Enroll" option to enroll in the policy.
International students must go to the Student Insurance Office and complete the appropriate enrollment forms.
OR
A BGSU student experiencing a qualifying events or life status changes. If a student experiences any of the qualifying events
after the semester open-enrollment period, Aetna Student Health will provide Pro-rated coverage for the balance for the school
year.
The student is responsible for the following:
- Complete the enrollment application and request coverage within 63 days loss of coverage
- Provide a letter of creditable coverage as proof of the loss of coverage with a termination date from the prior carrier
- Make payment via Visa, Master Card, personal check or money order to Aetna Student Health.

Voluntary Enrollment
A BGSU student is eligible for voluntary enrollment:
- When he/she are registered for 5,6 or 7 credit hours in a degree seeking program and actively attending classes during the
period for which the coverage is purchased
- Students may voluntarily apply for spouse and/or dependent coverage
Students meeting the voluntary eligibility requirements may purchase the BGSU Student Insurance Plan on a voluntary basis
by visiting www.aetnastudenthealth.com, clicking on "Find your School" and entering your policy number 890446.
Aetna Student Health maintains its right to review student status and attendance records to verify that the Policy Eligibility
requirements have been met. If Aetna Student Health discovers that the Policy Eligibility requirements have not been met,
its only obligation is to refund the premium, less any claims paid.
