Activate your BGSU email/MyBGSU accounts

When admitted, you should have received information from the Office of Admissions about your BGSU email account and your Web portal account (MyBGSU), and a temporary BGSU identification card, including your BGSU ID number.

If you have not already done so, set up and activate your accounts.  You will use your active MyBGSU account to submit the initial $200 housing payment, to complete the online My Room & Meals Preference Form, and for conducting many other aspects of University business.  MyBGSU is a secure Web site designed for online communities, learning and e-commerce.

In order to activate your account, you will need:

  • Your BGSU ID number (0123456789 Or P0123456789)
  • Your last name
  • Your date of birth
  • A MAC OS X or Windows XP (or later) computer with an internet connection
  • A current version of internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari

This is a three-step process.  In order to activate your account, you will choose a user name and password.  Read and agree to the "Information Technology" policy and click the "Registration Complete" button.  If you do not complete all three steps, your accounts will not be accessible.  You will know that you have successfully activated your account when the "Registration Successful" page appears.

You must wait 24 hours after activating your account to complete your room and meals preferences online.

Steps to reserve your room and meals on-campus

  • Have your MyBGSU username and password available.
  • Be prepared to make your initial $200 housing payment.
  • If interested in living in a Learning and Theme Community, make sure you have already made the enrollment request prior to completing your housing preference.
  • Have your FALCON HOUSING WORKSHEET filled out and available as a reference.

Step 1. Go to the Web portal MyBGSU

Step 2. Enter BGSU Username and your Password (same as your email)

Step 3. Click on "My Room & Meals" under Financial Services

Step 4. Read instructions on the Falcon Housing Sign-up page if you need more information.

Step 5. Make the $200 initial payment.

Step 6. Click on "Completed Housing Payment". This will take you to a new window. (All pop-up blockers must be turned off.) 

  • Click on "My Housing Preferences".
  • Click on "Room Preference & Meal Plan Selection"
  • Select Application period from drop down.
  • Select Meal Plan from drop down.
  • Select Room (Buildings) Preference(s).  You may enter as many buildings as you desire. After your selection scroll down and click "continue". You will see a "Thank You for completing room and meal preferences".
  • Click on "Roommate Matching" where you may enter the University ID of your requested roommate (if any). Even if you do not have a requested roommate, answer the "Roommate Matching" questions which will help us in matching you with a roommate. Scroll down and click "continue". You are now finished with the selection process.  You may go in at anytime to make changes until you are assigned.

You do not have to create a Screen Name unless you are being pulled in as a roommate by an upperclassman.

After July 2, you can log back into My Room & Meals to view your assignment.
