Activate your BGNET/MY BGSU Accounts

When admitted, you should have received information from the Office of Admissions about your email account (BGNet) and your Web portal account (MyBGSU), and a temporary BGSU Identification card, including your BGSU ID number.

If you have not already done so, you must set up and activate your accounts. You will use your active MyBGSU account to submit the initial housing payment, complete the online My Room & Meals Preference Form and for conducting many other aspects of University business. MyBGSU is a secure Web site designed for online communities, learning and e-commerce.

Steps for activating your BGNET/MyBGSU accounts.

You will need:

• Your BGSU ID Number (the letter "P" followed by nine numbers) - found on the BGSU Temporary ID card.
• Your PIN Code - found on the Authorization Codes section of the form, above your BGSU Temporary ID card. (The PIN Code is only used for logging on the first time. After you see your name and new email address displayed on the computer, you may destroy the Authorization Codes portion of the form.)
• Your initial password, which is made up of the following eight numbers: the last four numbers of your BGSU ID number followed by your birth month (two digits) and your birthday (two digits).

Step 1. Log on to the Internet at any computer using Internet Explorer. (Netscape will not work.)

Step 2. Go to http://intranet.bgsu.edu/accounts/registration and follow the prompts.

Please note you must wait overnight for your MyBGSU Web portal account to be active.

Steps to reserve your room and meals on campus

Completion of this reservation is necessary to confirm your intent to attend BGSU in fall 2008.

Before you go online...

• Have your BGNet/MYBGSU Username and Authentication Password
• Prepare to make the initial $200 payment with a MasterCard, Visa, Discover account or checking/bank account.
• Have the name of a residential learning or theme communities you may wish to request
• Prepare a list of residential preferences in priority order
• Have your prospective roommate’s BGSU ID number, if you choose to request a roommate.

If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact the Office of Residence Life at 419.372.2011 as soon as possible so that we can assist you.

Beginning February 5 using Internet Explorer

Step 1. Go to the Web portal https://my.bgsu.edu

Step 2. Enter BGNet Username and your Authentication Password (same as your email)

Step 3. Click on My Room & Meals under My Services

Step 4. Click on Make Initial Room Payment. As part of this payment process, you will be able to sign the Housing and Dining Agreement form electronically. Please completely read the Housing and Dining Agreement.

Step 5. After submitting payment, you will be automatically directed to the My Room & Meals Preference Form. Proceed with sign-up.

Making the initial $200 payment and completing the My Room & Meals Preference Form at BGSU’s secure online site is the fastest and easiest way to proceed.

Students under 18 years of age can pay online and complete the My Room & Meals Preference Form but a parent or legal guardian must sign and return the Housing and Dining Agreement appearing at the bottom of the Payment Options Form to the Office of Residence Life, 222 Saddlemire Student Services at Conklin, BGSU, Bowling Green, OH 43403.

If you prefer NOT to pay online, please follow the instructions on the Payment Options Form.

Assignment Notification/Roommate Information

After July 2, students who have submitted the initial $200 payment and completed the My Room & Meals preference form may begin to check online to view their assignment.  Assignments will include your hall, room number, roommate's name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.  Once assigned, you must contact the Office of Residence Life to cancel this assignment.

Changing your housing preferences

You can make changes to these preferences on-line up to 6 times within My Room & Meals until noon on June 25.  If you have previously selected a learning community and want to make a change, you will not be able to make this change on-line but must contact our office.
