Information technology is just about everywhere on campus including your room and residence hall. You can access the network
from your room or from a number of computer labs across campus, including one in every residential complex. You can check
your email in more than 100 places on campus. BGSU provides quick and free access to the World Wide Web, email, “community”
software, the daily news, electronic discussion groups (including ones for academic classes) and even employment/internship
opportunities.
Residential Computing Connection (RCC), a unit of the Office of Residence Life, coordinates computing and information technology
resources and services for students living on campus. More than 90 percent of BGSU resident students bring a computer to campus.
High-speed Ethernet connections to the University’s computing network are available in every residence hall student room.
Ethernet connections are provided for both Windows and Macintosh computers. Wireless is also available in all residential
buildings.
Residence hall computer labs are equipped with Windows and Macintosh computers, software and laser printers. Residence hall
computer labs are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
RCC recommends laptops, tower computers and iMac computers as most suitable for use in residence hall rooms because they save
desk space. More detailed information about what type of computer to bring and about the residential computing environment
is available at the RCC Web site:
