Special Accommodations 

The Office of Residence Life is committed to providing an equal educational opportunity and to supporting the full participation of all students in our campus community. We value the ideals of diversity in our campus communities and promote the inclusion and accommodation of the various needs of our students as they come to stay with us on campus.

The Office of Residence Life provides reasonable accommodations for students with documented medical disabilities regarding campus housing. A person with a disability is defined as "any person who (1) has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major life activities, (2) has a record of such impairment, or (3) is regarded as having such an impairment." While your request may be considered prior to you being accepted for admission to the university, actual accommodations and assignments will be provided following verification that you have been admitted and completed your residence hall application, deposit, and meningitis requirement. When necessary, Residence Life and the Office of Disability Services will consult with each other  regarding your request of reasonable accommodations.

Accommodations that may be approved for students include wheelchair accessible rooms, reduced access bathrooms, gender neutral bathrooms, air-cooling, and single rooms. In order to provide support to students who need special accommodations, students must inform Residence Life of the nature of their request. Staff will not ask for more information than is needed to adequately review a request and all disclosed information will be kept as confidential as possible. Recognizing that students are not all alike, and have different needs and desires, Residence Life addresses each request on an individual case-by-case basis.
