Learn to Skate - Outline of Skills
The BGSU Ice Arena Learn to Skate program incorporates the US Figure Skating Basic Skills Curriculum in all classes and the chart below outlines the fundamental skills taught during each six-week session.

US Figure Skating provides resources for parents and skaters participating in group lesson programs throughout the country.
| Tots - An emphasis on basic balance, falling, recovering, safety and fun | Snowplow Sam 1, 2 and 3 |
| Beginner - Introduces fundamentals of balance, forward and backward skating and stopping. | Basic 1 Basic 2 Basic 3 |
| Intermediate - Progression to edges, crossovers and basic turns. | Basic 4 Basic 5 |
| Advanced - Flexibility, coordination, precise technique and free skate maneuvers are introduced. | Basic 6 Basic 7 Basic 8 |
| Freeskate - Jumps, spins, creative movement and maneuver sequencing | Free Skate 1 Free Skate 2 Free Skate 3 |
| Bridge - Faster paced lessons introducing the various disciplines of figure skating. | Basic 6 and Up |
| Adult - Skaters 17 years and up, beginner to free skate skill levels. | All/Any |
