Personal Training - First Year Students

The Personal Training program focuses on one-on-one personal training utilizing resistance and cardiovascular training. The client goals and physical fitness level will help the trainer establish a sound exercise program.  The trainers hold nationally recognized personal training certifications.

Free Student Training Session

Tuesdays, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

The Student Recreation Center began offering free personal training to BGSU first year freshman students in the Fall of 2009. First year students are offered 1 FREE session with our certified trainers. Sessions will focus on setting up individualized exercise programs based on students health and fitness goals. Sign up as individual or with friends. 1 to 4 participants can sign up for each time slot.

Sessions May Include:

  • Equipment Orientation and physical fitness assessment focusing on form, alignment, and speed of movement.  Also includes a strength assessment.
  • Cardiovascular workout consisting of an interval training workout with polar heart rate monitoring and RPE report on client’s choice of three modes of cardiovascular exercise.  Education on the benefits of cardiovascular exercise and the importance of crossing training will also be offered.  A complete cardiovascular program will be developed in addition.
  • Functional Training Workout will be developed to individual needs and goals.  Exercises will be demonstrated on a variety of exercise equipment including stability balls, resistance bands, free weights, and more.
  • Evaluation and further sessions can be scheduled after 6-8 weeks of the client working out on their own in order to reassess goals.
