2010 Renovations Improve Ice Arena Facilities
The Ice Arena underwent nearly six months of renovations in 2010 to update its facilities including:
- New ice plant (including new compressors, chillers, dehumidification system(s) and boilers)
- New lighting over the Main Ice (three times stronger than the current lighting)
- New roof and gutter system
- Masonry cleaning
- Conversion of the Curling Ice to “multi-purpose” ice with boards, glass, and netting for hockey/skating while maintaining three curling lanes
- Renovation of current locker rooms with benching, paint and skate tread
- Addition of four new locker rooms
Area Descriptions
Main Ice - 85' x 200'
The Main Ice at the BGSU Ice Arena can be rented for a wide range of events and functions involving hockey, figure skating, or general recreational skating.
Skate rental fees of $2.00 per person apply to all rentals.
The Lounge
The Ice Arena Lounge is large enough to comfortably accommodate up to 125 people, yet can maintain a "living room" atmosphere for smaller functions.
It is an excellent venue for wedding receptions, retirement parties, academic seminars, business meetings, and a variety of social events. Customers are allowed great flexibility with regard to set up and catering.
Kitchen facilities including food warmers, a commercial sized refrigerator, freezer, sink, and microwave are available. Candles are not permitted.
Alcoholic beverages are permitted with a $200.00 cash deposit. Possession and consumption is restricted to the Lounge.

Multi-Purpose Ice - 57' x 150'
Curling is a unique activity that can be enjoyed by individuals of all ages. Corporate events in conjunction with Lounge rentals are very popular on the Multi-Purpose Ice as well as family and organizational parties and outings.
An instruction with rental fee is arranged with BG Curling Club (must be contracted in advance)
