Learn to Swim Expectations

The teacher expects students:
  • To be on time.
  • To have my hair tied back (if necessary).
  • To remove all objects from my mouth (gum, paper, candy, rubber bands, hands, etc.).
  • To have a positive attitude.

Students can expect from their teacher to:
  • Explain and demonstrate each skill.
  • Give everyone an opportunity for practice.
  • Give positive reinforcement and corrective feedback.
  • Use games whenever possible to facilitate learning.
  • Start and end class on time.


The teacher expects parents:

  • To observe the class from the balcony.
  • To observe without correction or negative comments.
  • To deliver my child on time.
  • To pick-up my child on time.
  • To be enthusiastic about all progress (however small).

The parents expects the teacher to:

  • Be fully certified and authorized American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
  • Be on time and teach for the full class period.
  • Keep the FUN in fundamentals and give each child an opportunity to learn.
  • Give reports and answer any questions about student's progress at the appropriate time.
  • Have safety of all students as the first priority.
