STUDENT EMPLOYEE PROFILE: ADAM HAMBLETON Story by Tami Herman, BGSU Student Recreational Sports Public Relations - Summer 2007
When Adam Hambleton started working at the Rec Center, he never thought that he would one day become Outstanding On-Campus
Student Employee of the Year. But after 3 years of hard work and a few promotions, he was chosen to receive that honor.
Adam started working at the Rec Center in December 2003 as a Floor Supervisor. After working hard for a few years, he was
promoted to Center Manager in May 2005. Becoming a Center Manager meant a lot to Adam because the position was formerly the
highest position a Rec Center employee could achieve.
In 2006 the department created the position of student supervisor. The position brought a new challenge to students because
it would involve managing and even disciplining the supervisor’s peers.

Adam was up for the challenge, and he became the student supervisor of Center Managers and Floor Attendants in January 2007. “I
like being a student supervisor because it is teaching me the necessary skills to succeed in the business world,” Adam said.
“I love working at "The Rec" because there is a great teamwork atmosphere here, and everyone is friendly and eager to help
you learn.”
Adam’s love of the Rec not only got him selected as Outstanding On Campus Student Employee of the Year for 2007, it also brought
a new career path into focus. After completing his degree in Interpersonal Communication, Adam hopes to get a master’s degree
in recreation. Adam’s story proves that working in the Rec Sports Department not only gives you the opportunity for promotions
and honors, it can also give you inspiration for the rest of your life. Adam is pictured above on the far left.
